
ACA Recruits New Partners
The year 2020 opened up with the recruitment of new partners at ACA, shortly after the retirement of two of its reputable Partners at the close of 2019; Mr. Afolabi Oladele, who led the Energy (Oil & Gas) sector and Mr. Sam Oniovosa, who served as CFO.
The new Partners recruit consists of two in-house promotions and two external recruits. Of the inward promotions; Mr. Steve Iwenjora, formerly Principal, Financial Services now leads the non-Bank Financial Services Sector; while Mr. Olugbenga Adetoro, formerly Principal, now leads the Energy (Oil & Gas) Sector, overseeing ACA’s efforts in the upstream, midstream, downstream oil & gas and power utilities.
For the external recruits, Ronald Mincy, is a deal partner with the Investment team and also supports the Investor Relations team, while Benjamin Dabrah will be leading the firm’s value creation efforts across the fund portfolios.

ACA hosts Alternative Investment Conference in Partnership with SANLAM Group
African Capital Alliance (“ACA”) in collaboration with Sanlam Investments hosted its premier Alternative Investments Conference, on Tuesday, October 29, 2019.
The conference which held at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island Lagos, had key stakeholders including institutional investors, fund and asset managers, regulators and service providers in a close interactive session, deliberating and exploring the possibilities with investing in various alternative assets, and their respective roles in a diversified investment portfolio.
The distinguished speakers and panellists shared their insights and experience, including existing concerns with the alternatives asset class that have largely influenced investors and the perceived scarcity of alternative products in the Nigerian market.

ACA hosts its business partners annual breakfast event
December 14, 2018, Lagos, Nigeria – The annual ACA breakfast event for business partners held on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at the Eko Hotel & Suites. It was attended by close associates, stakeholders and key delegates of the firm. The breakfast event, which has held over the past years, provides an opportunity to discuss topical management issues, as well as review the evolving macro-economic overview for the coming year.
This year, Dr. Doyin Salami, CEO- Kainos Edge provided a 2019 macro-economic overview of Nigeria in his presentation, which was followed by Mr. Mauricio Alarcon, CEO- NESTLE Nigeria, the next speaker discussed the subject of leadership dynamics in a volatile and uncertain environment.
ACA principal speaks at the 2017 Real Estate Unite Summit
October 23, 2017, Lagos, Nigeria – ACA Principal, Obi Nwogugu, today participated in a panel session themed “Mixed-Use: Live, Work, Play,” during the 6th edition of the Real Estate Unite 2017 Summit.
The session addressed the changing needs of the global real estate market and the increasing level of adaptation of developers to mixed-use developments.
In his remarks, Obi highlighted the potential role mixed-use schemes could play in the evolution of cities in Sub-Saharan Africa. According to him, such schemes could drive further scale and development of cities, thereby attracting a greater inflow of private capital and infrastructural development. He also mentioned the potential multiplier effect on tourism and improved quality of life of residents.
In his closing remarks, Obi stressed the importance of getting key fundamentals right in developing mixed-use projects. As an example, he highlighted ACA’s recent investment in Bluewater Lekki , a mixed-use development comprising of over 500 apartments with modern conveniences, 10,000 sqm retail/commercial use and recreational facilities designed for comfort and pleasure, in a secure water-front environment.

ACA principal speaks at the 2017 EMPEA/FT Conference
October 18, 2017, London, UK – Emmanuel Assiak, Principal, ACA, today served as a panelist at the 9th Annual Private Equity in Africa summit, organized by the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association (EMPEA) and the Financial Times, in London. The session themed “Optimal Strategies to Access Africa’s Private Capital Opportunity Set,” allowed panelists the opportunity to discuss various investment strategies in Africa and how they see the private equity industry evolving on the continent.
In his remarks, Emmanuel noted that as economic cycles shorten and become increasingly more volatile, the case for value creation is growing even more compelling. According to him, investment returns will continue to emerge more from operational efficiency improvements than from market multiple expansion.
He added that whilst the core of ACA’s investment strategy remains intact, the firm is expanding into its mandated market, West Africa, leveraging its on-the-ground presence, local market knowledge and strong network of partners to create value.
