The company fully commenced manufacturing operations in Nigeria in 2008. It has since built a strong brand renowned for both product quality and affordability.
In 2019, the International Financial Corporation (IFC) and the Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (We-Fi) commissioned a case study on Daraju Industries to study how the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector in Nigeria can support women entrepreneurs and capture untapped growth opportunities. Daraju was keen to deepen its understanding of the needs of (both genders) and the impact of meeting these needs on their sales performance.
Insights from the case study revealed that investing in female distributors can open new markets, boost sales, growth, and profitability. As at 2019 or 2020, one-third of the company’s approximately 1,200 distributors are women.
To unlock the potential of female entrepreneurs in Daraju’s distributor channel, the company provides access to technology, logistics and financing opportunities for some women-led micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises to eliminate business growth barriers.
